#FTIR-ATR : Spectrometer Bruket Alpha II Platinum FT-IR
Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) is a widely used technique for rapid material identification. With the aid of custom-built reference libraries, it can be used to verify or identify unknown materials in a matter of minutes. It is a non-destructive technique that requires limited to no sample preparation to perform analysis. The Bruker ALPHA II has a portable benchtop design with interchangeable modules to suit your sampling requirements. The ATR, DRIFT and External Reflection modules give the flexibility to analyse a wide range of sample types. It can be integrated into routine sampling or used for more targeted identification and verification.
By generating custom calibrations, the ATR module can be used to perform semi-quantitative analysis. This can provide valuable real-time information such as semi-quantitative mineralogy to complement chemical analysis on-site for rapid decision making.

Applications
The ALPHA II offers an optimal instrument design for almost all samples and therefore is immensely suitable for an extensive variety of applications.
One of the most vital applications of the ALPHA II refers to quality control in different industries. Here, the FT-IR spectroscopic analysis is mainly utilized for verifying the specifications and identity of raw materials and products. Additionally, the ALPHA II permits identification of unknown samples. This is mainly valuable for an efficient failure analysis, for example, when investigating a contamination which brought about a product defect.
In criminalistics, the possibility of determining unknown substances is employed in order to detect drugs and also trace evidence.
The availability of liquid cells and several other ATR options for the ALPHA II permit the performance of quantitative analysis with always the optimal measurement conditions for the respective sample type. Dedicated ALPHA II analyzers with internal calibrations are available and they perform the quantitative analysis of quality-related parameters in wine and also perform the determination of FAME in diesel.
The ALPHA II is predestined to be used for teaching because of its compact design and its intuitive usability.
