BioTek Epoch 2 microplate spectrophotometer delivers excellent performance for UV-Vis absorbance measurements. Measurements can be performed in 6- to 384-well microplates, cuvettes, and microvolume samples with the available Take3 microvolume plate. The broad wavelength range enables applications from nucleic acid and protein quantification in the low UV to microbial growth assays with higher wavelengths.
Epoch 2 is easy to use, and the optional touchscreen interface makes it simple to choose predefined protocols or to define custom programs. Endpoint, kinetic, spectral scanning, well area scanning modes, and incubation and shaking enable wide-ranging applications. Epoch 2 includes monochromator-based individual wavelength selection or wavelength scanning from 200 to 999 nm, accommodating an extensive range of assays, including nucleic acid and protein quantification, ELISA, microbial growth, endotoxin, ROS assays, and enzyme kinetics.
The onboard software in the Epoch 2 eliminates the need for a separate computer and includes predefined standard protocols for rapid assay setup and recall. Custom protocol definition, storage, and selection are easily accomplished via the optional color touchscreen interface. Endpoint, kinetic, and spectral scanning applications are all available from the touchscreen. Data can be output to a USB flash drive or printer.
How It Works
Filter-free UV-Vis wavelength selection from 200 – 999 nm
The monochromator-based optics in Epoch 2 allows the choice of wavelengths in 1 nm increments – no need to purchase filters! The broad wavelength range enables applications from nucleic acid and protein quantification in the low UV to microbial growth assays.
Endpoint, kinetic and spectral scanning
The onboard software in Epoch 2 enables several read modes, including single and dual wavelength endpoint and kinetic measurements. Spectral scanning provides a convenient, quick spectrum of all defined samples. Under Gen5 software control, well-area scanning is also available, along with robust data analysis.
